Dead Island 2 has been one of the many games that over the years have gone through chaotic development since it began in 2012. Although what has differentiated it from the rest of the projects, it has been the different developers that have been in charge of said title. First it was Techland, then Yager continued with the work, Sumo Digital joined the party and now Dambuster Studios (Deep Silver) is in charge, which seems to be the definitive one.
We had been a long time without knowing a single detail about this long-awaited title, but a week ago, the well-known journalist Tom Henderson unexpectedly revealed to us that Dead Island 2 could be released this year, more specifically during the fourth quarter of 2022, as development has progressed well. Also, he updated details about the plot, where our protagonist finds himself in Hollywood, after a plane crash caused by a zombie outbreak.

Embracer Group Discusses Dead Island 2 Release Date
Many fans had been waiting for a minimal message to give them hope about Dead Island 2, since after so many problems in development, there was a possibility that it would be canceled. But from SomosXbox we bring you good news, since we have known through an interview via VGCthat CEO Lars Wingefors of Embracer Group, parent company that owns Deep Silver, has spoken about Dead Island 2’s release date.
It’s very clear (which is still alive), and at least I expect the release in this financial year, or sorry, the next financial year I should say. I can’t speak for Dead Island 2 because it’s not advertised as such by the publisher. But we just talked about having an unannounced AAA title… which is believed to be Dead Island 2, so it’s hard for me to comment further on that. But I am very excited about the unannounced titles (laughs).
Without confirming anything directly, between the statements of Tom Henderson and those of the CEO of Embracer Group, it seems that the Dead Island 2 will be released before April 2023.
