systems Artificial Intelligence (AI) They have grown to unbelievable levels. So far they have us fascinated with what they can do and the depth of the answers they provide. But Elon Musk is fearful about the potential of this technology if used in warfare, particularly with drones.
A few hours ago we just published a curious essay and duel of entities. where we ask to both ChatGPT and Google Bard their opinion on Isaac Asimov’s Laws of Robotics and how they could break those rules.
In the end, both platforms delivered an extensive text with their analysis of each postulate, closing with a reflection on their current real relevance to modern technology and what actions they could implement to violate said norms.
The result of the experiment we ran here at FayerWayer It was disturbing and helps us gauge exactly what Elon Musk is worried about.
These Artificial Intelligence systems have grown impressively and are at a point where the transparency of their development and the real limits of their execution are not very clear.
And these would be factors of frank concern if this technology were used in a military or war context.
Elon Musk is afraid of what Artificial Intelligence could do if drones are used in a war
It turns out that the Wall Street Journal has just held its traditional CEO Council Summit in London, where Elon Musk was summoned to give a talk and ended up talking about his biggest concern today.
The event, as reported by the British media The Evening Standardbrings together multiple CEOs to discuss how they navigate the world of business in front of a global audience.
And in this edition, one of the most important interventions was that of Elon Musk, who ended up talking about the future risks of Artificial Intelligence systems:
“I think we generally operate on the assumption that civilization is solid and nothing can be torn down, a sentiment that has been common throughout history among empires shortly before they fell apart.
There is a risk that as AI systems improve, they will eliminate or restrict the growth of humanity. There is an element of superintelligence that is very much a double-edged sword.
I suspect the first government uses of AI would be with weapons. So having more advanced weapons on the battlefield that can react faster than any human is really what Artificial Intelligence would be capable of.
Any future war between advanced countries or at least countries with drone capability will be very much a drone war.”
In itself, Musk believes that we are at the end of an empire phase and that the world as we know it could collapse at any moment, with Artificial Intelligence systems now being a key piece for that destiny.
