Elon Musk has strangely changed the iconic Twitter logo to that of the Dogecoin dogin a move that users have criticized as an April Fools’ joke two days late.
According to a report published on the website of Daily Starsocial media users noticed the change, which was apparently made without prior notice on April 3, after they saw the Dogecoin dog in the top right corner of their Twitter accounts instead of the blue bird.
Few were impressed by the joke. One social media user said: “It changed the logo, but couldn’t even format it correctly. Look at the pixels at the top. Come on man”.
Another wrote: “I think this might be what really breaks me. It’s too embarrassing to post on Twitter if this is the logo”.
A joke applauded by stockbrokers
While tweeters criticized Musk’s joke, stockbrokers seemed to love the move. Dogecoin stock price shot up massively after the change, rising 25% in just half an hour after the change was apparently made.
Elon Musk has a long and strange history with cryptocurrency. He is currently involved in a $258 billion racketeering lawsuit that accuses him of running a pyramid scheme to back cryptocurrency and is today asking a United States judge to dismiss the suit.
Investors have accused Musk of deliberately increasing the price of Dogecoin by more than 36,000% over two years and then letting it crash.
Although the also CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has not commented on the logo change, he did have time to share a memazo about it.
