SpaceX’s Starship is ready to return to space after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the issuance of a new license to Elon Musk’s company to attempt another launch.
Liftoff could occur this week, as the FAA has issued an air traffic advisory for Starship’s launch from Boca Chica, Texas, scheduled for Friday from 1 p.m. to shortly after 5 p.m., with possible alternative times on Saturday and Sunday.
This follows the completion of the Fish and Wildlife Service’s environmental assessment in collaboration with the FAA as part of the licensing process.
An FAA spokesperson confirmed: “The FAA has granted licensing authorization for the second launch of the SpaceX Starship Super Heavy vehicle.
After reviewing all aspects of safety, environment, policies and financial responsibility, SpaceX was determined to be in compliance.”
A moment long awaited by Elon Musk and SpaceX
Following the incident that led to Starship’s development being frozen following its first attempt at full orbital flight, the project has undergone an extensive review by the FAA and FWS to understand what happened and how SpaceX could address the issue.
Now it seems they are ready for a new attempt.
Musk had mentioned on his social networks that Friday was an increasingly viable option for the launch. SpaceX plans to stream the event on its website and other platforms, although the exact time has not yet been confirmed.
