As tech giants around the world work to bring the idea of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to life to help humans in their daily lives, some believe that the risk of nascent technology getting out of hand remains imminent. Faced with this possibility, Elon Musk, head of Tesla and Twitter, recalled the potential of AI to destroy civilization.
Musk’s plan to create a new AI startup came to light on March 15, after the entrepreneur allegedly assembled a team of AI researchers and engineers. However, Musk continues to stress the destructive potential of AI – just like any other technology – if it falls into the wrong hands or is developed with malicious intent.
Anyone who thinks this risk is 0% is an idiot

According to Musk, AI can be dangerous. In an interview with FOX, he said that AI could be more dangerous than mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance, for example. While he acknowledged the low probability, he stated:
“As small as it is, you can consider that probability, but it is not trivial: it has the potential to destroy civilization.”
When crypto-Twitter picked up the discussion, Musk followed up with strong support for his statement:
“Anyone who thinks this risk is 0% is an idiot.”
Besides, Tech entrepreneurs like Bill Gates continue to be more optimistic about AI and the positive effects it can bring to humanity.
On April 13, Amazon became the latest tech giant to join the race to create AI services. Amazon Bedrock enables users to build and extend generative AI applications.
