This Tuesday the billionaire Elon Musk “introduced” the new CEO of Twitter, after “months of searching” for someone to replace him in the position.
“The new CEO of Twitter is incredible,” the businessman posted on his account, attaching a photo of his dog Floki at a desk in a business suit.
Elon Musk is seriously looking for a new CEO for Twitter
The businessman’s joke follows weeks of speculation on his part about his performance as CEO of the battered social media company. For example, in mid-December he published a poll asking if he should step down as head of Twitter. 57.5% of 17.5 million people said “Yes”, while 42.5% chose “No”.
Musk says he is looking for someone to replace him, theoretically so he can focus on his other companies Tesla and SpaceX, but said he will only leave “when he finds someone dumb enough to take the job.”
The richest man in the world bought Twitter for $44 billion at the end of October 2022.
According to his words, Musk acquired the social network to promote freedom of expression. However, his choices have caused massive layoffs and resignations from the social network, unjustified blocking of journalists’ accounts, and a monumental departure of advertisers from the platform.
To make up for the losses at Twitter, Musk even had to sell two blocks of Tesla stock between November and December, worth $3.65 billion and $3.9 billion, respectively.
