Elon Musk he is extremely online and very willing to participate in technology-related conversations of all kinds. That includes topics related to video games, as he has talked about his favorite games, his game in Elden Ring, and other topics on social media.
One of the recent goals of Elon Musk related to games is to bring Steam to Tesla vehicles to be able to play on the dashboard of the car. That idea has led Musk to be asked if he would be interested in creating his own video game console.
Musk participated in an episode of the podcast, Full Send, when he was asked if he would be interested in creating a video game console. It is clear that Musk is a fan of video games, he has incredible wealth and has strong enough opinions to know how to differentiate his own console from one. PlayStation or one Xbox.
Nevertheless, Elon Musk he says he is not interested in doing such a thing. He quite explicitly answers the question with a direct “no.” Digging deeper, Musk says he’s “not sure” that any value can be created by adding another video game console to the current store.
In addition, he explains that video game consoles are basically PCs, which perhaps implies that he considers consoles to be increasingly indistinct next to PC games. This is not surprising, as Musk has previously talked about not playing console games. The only console franchise he says he plays is Halo.
Elon Musk perhaps he is not wrong when he says that there may not be much value in adding another console to the current gaming market. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are successful due in large part to foundations built through multiple console generations. There has not been an important part that enters the market since the Xbox in 2001.
It looks like Musk will be content to continue playing PC games, working to bring Steam to Tesla vehicles, and sharing his thoughts online.
