The Third World war It could be much closer than we think and it would be the most important issue to try to avoid today. At least that’s what he considers Elon Muskone of the richest men in the world.
The executive behind SpaceX, Tesla Motors and X (formerly Twitter) has permanently distinguished itself by always having an opinion on almost any trending topic and in the case of the situation experienced by the armed conflicts in the world it is no exception.
For years now, Elon has stood out for generally maintaining an almost apocalyptic perspective on the future of humanity. Particularly in relation to technology.
Back in March 2022, Musk gave a talk where he outlined what were at that time the three factors that he considered could lead to the extinction of humanity:
- The low birth rates that continue to plummet
- The development of Artificial Intelligence systems, if these in the end “go wrong”.
- And religious extremism.
Today Elon once again addresses the issue of his most current fears and marks his concern about an issue that directly connects with the third point on the list and that could lead us to World War III.
“Avoiding” World War III: Elon Musk warns what is the most urgent issue today
It happens that Elon Musk participated in the last broadcast of Monday Talk by David Sacks, where he warned that the wars between Israel and Hamas, as well as that between Ukraine and Russia, would be bringing civilization ever closer to a potential Third World War.
So, from their perspective, “avoiding” World War III would be the “most important issue” today:
“World War III is a risk to civilization from which we might not recover. Where is the war between Israel and Hamas heading? Could this lead to World War III?
We must prioritize avoiding World War III, that is what really matters. And not, as happened in the First World War, a regional conflict quickly becoming a global conflict.
That could happen again when things get out of control. Before you know it, we would have a massive global conflict with devastation far exceeding World War I or World War II.”
It is true that Elon Musk’s vision of this type of probable future always tends to be somewhat extreme. But this time he’s probably right.
