Elon Musk confirmed this Thursday, October 27, that he has bought the social network Twitter.
It did so a few hours before the deadline imposed by the United States court for the parties to seal the company’s acquisition agreement for 44 billion dollars.
Tesla’s CEO posted a tweet addressed to Twitter advertisers confirming the deal.
“Dear Twitter advertisers, I wanted to reach out personally to share my motivation for acquiring Twitter,” Musk wrote.
“There has been a lot of speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about advertising. Most of that speculation was wrong,” Musk said in the text.
The tycoon says he acquired the company “because it is important for the future of civilization to have a common digital public square, where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way, without resorting to violence.”

Before the confirmation, Twitter staff were nervous about fears of mass layoffs.
Musk, although he had said that they should get rid of numerous employees, later reversed his comments and denied that situation.
Some employees took to the platform they work on to share their insecurities about their new boss. It was after a video was released in which Musk entered the firm’s headquarters in San Francisco with a sink.

Twitter has more than 7,500 employees.
In the text addressed to advertisers, Musk expanded: “Don’t buy Twitter because it was easy. I didn’t do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, which I love. And I do so with humility, recognizing that failure to achieve this goal, despite our best efforts, is a possibility.”
He added: “There is a great danger that social media will split into far-right and far-left echo chambers that will generate more hate and divide our society.”
After knowing the end of the movie “Musk vs Twitter”, The New York Stock Exchange announced that Twitter shares will be suspended listed this Friday while waiting for the definitive signature.
