India became in the fourth country to reach the Moon, a historical fact that marks a new milestone in space exploration. Elon Musk, SpaceX chief congratulated the nation with an amusing reaction.
Let’s remember that SpaceX works together with NASA in the Artemis Program, that seeks to bring the first woman and the next man to the natural satellite.
After the Chandrayaan-3 Mission reached the lunar surface this week, Elon Musk stated through the social network X, formerly Twitter: “Super cool!”.
He did it as a reaction to the comment of sundar pichai, Indian-born Alphabet-Google CEO whose post went much deeper.
“What an amazing moment!” Pichai posted. “Congratulations to ISRO (the country’s aerospace agency) on the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon this morning. Today India became the first country to successfully reach the lunar south pole.
The success of India’s program on the Moon and how it can help space exploration
India succeeds the United States, the Soviet Union and China as the only nations that have had a presence on our natural satellite. Of these, only the North Americans carried humans, and they hope to do so again in Mission Artemis II (to orbit) and III (to the surface).
Inside the Chandrayaan-3 Mission Moon Landing Module stands the six-wheeled Pragyan rover, that will travel the surface of the Moon collecting images and data.
According to experts, the south pole of the Moon could have everything from minerals to water, all key to larger-scale space exploration. It is translated into oxygen and fuel.
India’s space program started in 1962: currently the Indian Space Research Agency (ISRO) seeks to go beyond the Moon, but also to think about Mars, Venus and beyond.
