This week marks three months since the release of Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s latest game that feels like the culmination of all their work, available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A few days ago it was discovered that the game may have had armor and weapons that breakas in The Legend of Zelda: BOTW.
Although The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most acclaimed and popular games of recent years, one of the biggest complaints that the gaming community had was the wear mechanics on weapons, because after using them for a time they ended up breaking and we lost them forever. It seems that Elden Ring it may have featured a similar mechanic.

Thanks to the dataminers we have been able to discover very interesting things about Elden Ring, such as a discarded function that would have allowed stealing dreams and secrets. A few days ago the Jester Patches account discovered some lines of text in the game files that read “Weapon Broken”, “Armor at risk” Y “Broken Armor”, which would indicate that at some point the equipment was worn out.
“I was going through the text files and freaked out for a moment”, says the dataminer who shared the information, who says he is glad that this has been discarded. This feature probably wouldn’t have been the same as Zelda: Breath of the Wild and we wouldn’t have lost our weapons, forcing us to constantly switch gears.

Elden Ring is a hugely ambitious game, so there are bound to be a lot of ideas that FromSoftware had to modify or discard during its development. Although dataminers have been presenting us with samples of what was left behind, we hope that eventually FromSoftware will talk in depth about the development of Elden Ring to learn more details.
