Gamers who follow sales data in the gaming industry know that the UK’s best-selling games are revealed week by week, but in North America we have to wait for The NPD to release the results each month. This week they revealed what they were top selling games February, including the premiere of Elden Ring from FromSoftware.
The release date of Elden Ring was February 25, so the information only takes into account the first four days it was available, but that was enough to become the best-selling game of the month in North America, surpassing Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Horizon Forbidden West. However, the most impressive thing is that in just 4 days Elden Ring managed to become the fifth best-selling game of the last 12 months.

According to information from The NPD Group, the best-selling game of the last 12 months in North America remains Call of Duty: Vanguardfollowed by Madden NFL 22 and Call of Duty: Black Ops: World War, which speaks to the popularity of COD in the region. In fourth place we have Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlwhich premiered in November last year, followed by Elden Ring which closes the Top 5 of the last year.
In just 4 days, Elden Ring sales in North America surpassed those of Battlefield 2042, Far Cry 6, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Resident Evil: Village and FIFAwhich speaks to the great success that FromSoftware’s open world is having.

Since the end of February, Elden Ring had been declared to have been FromSoftware’s most successful launch, surpassing Dark Souls 3, but we had no idea the scale of its success given that Soulsborne games are generally considered niche. In my review of Elden Ring I said that it was everything we could hope for in a FromSoftware open world, so if you like challenges, huge maps and a sense of discovery, I highly recommend giving Elden Ring a try.
