EBRO is one of the proper names in the Spanish automotive industry. Leader in the design and manufacture of industrial vehicles -tractors, trucks, vans and off-road vehicles-, the brand ended up disappearing within an increasingly competitive sector. However, EBRO will have a second life thanks to EcoPower Automotive, a company that has resurrected the ‘myth’ from the development of a 100% electric pick-up that began in 2018 and could conclude in 2022 with its entry into production. In parallel, Avatel and Jaton Racing have promoted EBRO’s landing in the world of competition with a ‘Side by Side’ that will be at the Dakar 2022.
The project was presented at the Andalusia Rally, under the banner of the Avatel Racing Team EcoPower. There, the 100% electric ‘side by side’ that EBRO will resurrect participated as ‘Car 0’ in the Prologue, before announcing its participation in the CERTT. However, the objective of EcoPower, Avatel and Jaton Racing is the Dakar, among other things thanks to the experience of the Ariel Jaton structure, in charge of the Acciona 100% EcoPowered project, among other things. The presence in the Dakar will be key to present to the world the rebirth of EBRO and the pick-up that will go into production next year.
Regarding the prototype, it presents a 100% electric powertrain with a power of 250 kW -335 hp- and 588 Nm of maximum torque. It has a range of 200 kilometers, so the team will have to change the prototype’s batteries in the middle of each stage, even when the ‘Side by Side’ incorporates an energy regenerator. Beyond its electrification, the ‘Side by Side’ designed by EcoPower, Avatel and Jaton Racing presents other points of innovation such as its totally ecological bodywork designed from flax fiber and recyclable resins. The prototype has Donerre suspensions, ART system and Detra rebound.
