Electronic Arts Inc has announced several key initiatives dedicated to championing the women’s soccer community and growing the sport both on and off the field. EA SPORTS has launched the “Starting XI Fund”, an accelerator fund for women’s football designed to grow the game. To kick-start the fund, EA SPORTS has committed an investment of $11 million, which will incorporate investments across the game, the league, the club and the athletes to continue elevating the women’s game. EA SPORTS has also announced that, starting in 2023, it will fund a women’s soccer practice program with each new and existing women’s league, designed to inspire and empower young women from diverse backgrounds to get involved in the world of soccer.

Starting in early 2023, EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23 will include the knockout stage of the UWCL, featuring clubs like Juventus Women, Real Madrid Women, Chelsea Women, Manchester City Women, Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, Paris Saint-Germain Féminine and more.
It was also announced during the Women’s Football Summit that EA SPORTS has agreed a multi-year sponsorship partnership with DAZN to become the global broadcast partner of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The partnership will begin in March, alongside the launch of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in FIFA 23 and the quarter-final round of the competition.. EA SPORTS advertising will appear across all global broadcasts of the matchday on DAZN and on DAZN’s UWCL YouTube channel. The partnership extends EA SPORTS’ commitment to delivering the most immersive experience to fans around the world.
EA SPORTS has understood the importance of bringing realism to the game, which is why it has been taking steps to elevate women’s football. When FIFA 23 launched earlier this year, fans were able to play as women’s club teams with the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema at launch, with the promise of further updates later in the season.

Also, in FIFA 23, Chelsea striker Sam Kerr made history by being the first woman to appear on a world cover of any FIFA game. Kerr also participated in the EA SPORTS Women’s Soccer Summit panel: Driving the Future of Women’s Soccer, where she discussed how we can work together to grow women’s soccer, on and off the pitch.
