A new controversy has been established in the video game industry for some time, where the famous NFTs have become relevant in the sector, but also the rejection of the players. As a result of criticism and comments, EA seems to be giving up on the idea of NFTs, after having shown interest in including them in their video games.
Through a round of questions that the portal collected Eurogamer, the CEO of the company Andrew Wilson answered various questions to investors on this issue, reaching the conclusion that they will wait for the decision. For those who are not familiar with the term NFT (non-fungible token), basically it is about a special type of token or ticket that represents something unique, turning an object into something of great value, which cannot be transferred.
EA seems to be giving up on the idea of NFTs
Team17 is today announcing an end to the MetaWorms NFT project.
We have listened to our Teamsters, development partners, and our games’ communities, and the concerns they’ve expressed, and have therefore taken the decision to step back from the NFT space.

Financial Times predicts that EA will be next in line to be acquired by a major company
During the round of questions with EA investors, Wilson commented the following: “If that is part of the NFTs? Well, that remains to be seen. I think the way we think about it is that we want to offer the best player experience possible. We will reevaluate it over time. But right now, it’s not something we’re pushing for the audience.” Words that contain regret for following the fashion of NFTs, which more and more companies are giving up due to the high criticism they have meant.
Also, and as we see in the tweet, Team17 also wanted to jump on the NFT bandwagon, but because a large part of the developers was against the idea, they had to give up their task. A hot topic that has not stopped since the fashion with these tokens began, and that only time will tell if they begin to materialize in the industry, or on the contrary, they are permanently discarded.
