Times have changed and the current pace of the video game industry seems to have doomed the E3 2023. This seems to be confirmed by the most recent company that has abandoned the event ship: Ubisoft.
Just over a month ago we reported how the largest companies in the sector and console manufacturers had confirmed that they would not be present at the expo.
No Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony at the show Ubisoft It had remained the largest firm in the industry with an official presence within the activities of E3 2023.
Even at the time, the company released official statements where they seemed to fully support the legacy and historical significance of this event.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, expressed in statements collected by VGC explicitly: “If E3 is held, we will be there and we will have many things to teach.”
Everything then indicated that the show would have this video game developer company as its focus and main axis, and the approach did not look bad.
But then, out of nowhere, things have changed again and now the event seems to have been lonelier than ever before, to the bewilderment of those who were looking forward to it.
Ubisoft also leaves E3 2023 to create its Ubisoft Forward event
In an absolutely unexpected turn of events, Ubisoft has announced that it will no longer attend E3 2023. All because the French video game company would now host its own separate event on June 12, 2023 in the city of Los Angeles.
In an official communiqué, reproduced by colleagues from Video Games Chronicle the European firm explained they had decided to move in a “different direction”, to better shape their own event, under the name of Ubisoft Forward Live:
“While we initially intended to have an official presence at E3 2023, we made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12 in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.”
This is what the statement marks where essentially at the last minute the company decided to imitate the steps of Nintendo, PlayStation, Microsoft and other large firms in the industry that little by little have abandoned what was one of the most representative events in the industry. .
E3 2023, however, is still on with another wide range of exhibitors and will take place from June 13 to 16 of this year.
