PlayStation raises the price in Mexico in its two models
The technology company PlayStation has announced a significant price increase for the PS5 in Mexico.
According to information from specialized media, the new recommended prices are 12,499 pesos for the PS5 Digital Edition and 14,999 pesos for the standard PS5 with reader Blu-ray.
In that sense, this price increase does not only apply to Mexico, since it will be effective immediately in all countries where the technological brand applies.
According to the post signed by Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, he explains that the main reason for the increase is “the global economic environment” citing exactly “high global inflation rates” as a factor that affects all consumers. .
In addition, PlayStation cites the “selected markets” such as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, as well as Canada, are the ones that will see the increase in their rates in said product.
The only country that does not receive a price increase is the United States, since even Japan will see the cost increase.
Given this, according to the estimates of specialized video game media in the country, the price increase of the PS5 in Mexico is exactly one thousand pesos in each version.
Recall that at its launch in 2020, the PS5 had prices of 11,499 pesos for the digital version and 13,999 pesos for the Blu-ray version.
In that sense, this sector is not the only one that has been affected by the economic crisis that the world is experiencing, since many streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime have already increased their costs in the struggle to survive a scenario that many do not expected after the Covid-19 pandemic.
