Dragon Ball Z It is a work that has served as an influence for entire generations of artists, particularly in the East. But sometimes on this side of the planet there are some pieces of Fan Art that testify to an inconceivable mixture. Like this play that turns Wolverine into a Saiyan.
The world of Marvel Comics and the X-Men looks like something absolutely incompatible with the universe of the franchise created by Akira Toriyama. Both for its plot and for its narrative, aesthetic and visual proposal.
But that has not prevented a western artist from releasing his imagination to mount a curious work where we see Logan dressed as an old-fashioned Saiyan, with everything and the original combat suit that, due to its design, even seems to insinuate that it would be about Bardock, Goku’s father.
This type of work, where franchises, sagas and universes that at first glance seem absolutely incompatible with each other are mixed, are quite common in the world of Fan Art.
But rarely is the piece so convincing and elaborate as to make us doubt the origin of the illustration and its background. The artwork shared here today is a perfect example of this.
The Fan Art of Wolverine as Saiyan in Dragon Ball Z looks so good that we would believe that he is the father of Goku
We can find on Instagram the account of the illustrator Thomas Matheus Rodrigues, better known as @tmatheus7an artist who has a relatively extensive career creating Fan Art pieces and commissions for other types of works focused on geek culture, sports and local culture in Brazil.
With such a range of variations, the author’s official account has a wide selection of illustrations and works where we see all kinds of visual proposals. But the one that has generated the most noise recently is this piece where he takes Wolverine and puts him inside the Dragon Ball universe:
“This is Logan, a pureblood Saiyan, born on the very planet Vegeta, who as a child was taken by Frieza on missions, but due to his kind behavior, he was subjected to experiments and brainwashed, resulting in this vengeful Saiyan. and out of control.
Today he spends his life looking for Frieza, to take revenge for everything he suffered at his hands!”
It is the description of history that Matheus gives to his work, where he coherently poses what could be the plot that would justify the existence of Wolverine in that universe of Akira Toriyama.
As we can read, in the end it is not specifically about Bardock, although his design also seems very inspired by that character.
