Maybe you already know who it is…
Frieza is one of the most imposing villains in the entire Akira Toriyama franchise, however he is not the most terrible of all. Even within the classic saga of Goku and companyin Dragon Ball, we meet a being with more evil and sinister intentions than those of this enemy. This article will contain a couple of spoilers to put this in context..
In Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball chapter 152, King Piccolo has managed to take control of Planet Earth and is addressing its citizens across the globe. within that address, King Piccolo announces his inauguration and states that he is rescinding all laws previously established and is actually imposing anarchy and anarchy. In fact, Piccolo says that those who commit the vilest atrocities imaginable will be personally officially recognized by him and even have a nation named after him.
While Piccolo’s momentary takeover of a single planet may seem like it doesn’t even compare to Frieza’s planet-conquering intergalactic atrocities, it’s actually much worse. Frieza didn’t become a dictator by destroying every planet he encountered, and most of the ones under his rule function as they normally would, only Frieza is the highest form of government. The planets of this villain have their own law, order and even a strong sense of community. Dragon Ball Super: Broly showed that Frieza’s influence was limitedas even members of Frieza’s own army heroically saved Broly’s life.
On the other hand, under King Piccolo’s rule, all goodness would die out incredibly quickly, as it established a system that not only encourages violence of the highest degree with the promise of a reward, but also makes it illegal not to engage in such violence. In short, Frieza demands general acquiescence to his rule, but King Piccolo demands full participation in evil. Although King Piccolo’s reign was brief and only applied to one planet, it makes sense that he would prove to be more evil than an intergalactic dictator given his origin. King Piccolo was not a Namekian in the most conventional sense, but he was actually the living embodiment of evil within Kami, a Namekian deity tasked with protecting Earth, leading even Piccolo to believe he was a literal demon of the depths of hell.
Piccolo’s redemption in Dragon Ball
While his reincarnated form, which Piccolo fans know and love today, was able to redeem himself, the original King Piccolo didn’t have an ounce of goodness in him because he was born out of pure evil, and his actions showed it. Frieza commits evil actions when he deems them necessary to grow and sustain his empire.while King Piccolo simply wants to spread evil himself, making him much darker than Frieza, despite later becoming one of Dragon Ball’s greatest heroes.
By comparison, Lord Frieza was such an imposing threat in the Dragon Ball manga that his reputation preceded him some time before his actual saga. Once Frieza actually makes his first appearance, he proves that the buildup was absolutely justified. He single-handedly kills Vegeta, kills Krillin, nearly kills Piccolo, and destroys the entire Planet Namek before finally being defeated by Goku. While the atrocities readers see Frieza commit on panel show just how villainous he is, his actions off panel are even worse. Frieza was responsible for the destruction of Planet Vegeta, the Saiyan homeworld, as well as the near extinction of the Saiyan race. However, despite his infamous reputation, he doesn’t usually destroy entire planets, as he usually conquers them and adds them to his ever-growing empire. Surprisingly, this means that one individual manages to best the franchise’s most famous villain.. The main difference between Piccolo and Freeza is the way in which some become “independent states under a new government” and that in another case they have to “become part of the new government”.
