The process of creating a manga and anime character goes through several stages. It almost never ends up being the first thing that the illustrator imagined, since after several editions the idea of an entire team ends up being realized. Dragon Ball, genius as Akira Toriyama is, is no exception.
We know that Goku was going to be a monkey boy completely, and not the simple tail with which he appears in the series. Fortunately he ends up being the character we all saw, since it would have been somewhat more complex to create the entire race of Saiyans in the same way.
But the case that summons us in this review is that of bulma. Goku’s best friend is undoubtedly at the top of the most important characters in Dragon Ball.
We are aware that she is not a warrior, nor does she have martial arts skills, but her presence was vital to the discovery of the Dragon balls or the machines that the Z Fighters later use to train.
The young scientist appears in a very sporty outfit in her first appearance, right at the premiere of Dragon Ball. But Akira Toriyama had other plans for this outfit, as could be seen in some old sketches of the mangaka that are now coming to light, according to Atomix review.
In that first sketch that comes to light, Bulma has a long skirt and a white shirt. She wears field boots and holds a firearm, an element that makes her a very different character from the one we end up seeing in the manga and anime.
Goku also stands out in a little Boy Scout outfit, but we know that wasn’t the character’s first idea.
