salvamakoto has become one of our favorite illustrators, thanks to his ability to reinterpret legendary animations as dragonball, super champions and many more. Today we share one of his most popular pieces.
The Knights of the Zodiac, or Saint Seiya, as it is known in the rest of the world outside of Latin America, it is perhaps the only other anime franchise besides Dragon Ball that is equally loved by both old school fans and younger generations.
It holds a special place in the hearts of people who have discovered its adventures day after day over the last three decades. And best of all, both sagas are kept alive with new stories even today.
It is not surprising then that in the Latin American territory we find tons of art and tributes made by fans, either in the format of illustrations or cosplay sessions, where tribute is paid to these two franchises.
But sometimes something peculiar and curious happens, when someone has the brilliant idea of taking both sagas and mixing them into one piece, an interesting feat but extraordinarily complicated to execute.
Salvamakoto has become one of our favorite Chilean illustrators, thanks to his remixing ability that always ends with impressive results. As is the case that we share with you today.
Android 17 from Dragon Ball Z becomes a golden saint from The Knights of the Zodiac
If you have followed Salvamakoto’s social networks closely, you will know perfectly well that one of his specialties is franchise mix that seem alien to each other.
Whether it is TV series, American cartoons or anime productions. If it was popular in the 90s, it is most likely that the artist will make a piece that mixes styles, costumes, and characters.
One of his most popular works is without a doubt his Dragon Ball Z series with The Knights of the Zodiac, where he put golden armor on the protagonists of Akira Toriyama’s anime. Where the Android 17 illustration is perhaps the most popular:
In this first-rate piece of Fan Art we see the villain of the Cell saga in the mantle of Camus de Aquarius, giving a particular force of visual impact to the conjunction of elements.
This was the final work he developed for this series of reinterpretations, it was published in May 2022 and to date it has accumulated almost 12,000 likes on Instagram.
