It’s time to compare two franchises that seem to come from two opposite poles, but have more in common than we imagine. We are talking about Dragon Ball and Invincible, the Amazon Prime Video animated series. And all from two specific characters that seemed incompatible with each other: Goku and Omni-Man.
If you have not had the fortune to see the complete first season of Invincible (either invincibleaccording to its original title) are missing the opportunity to enjoy one of the best animated series of recent times.
At the time, when its premiere on Amazon Prime Video ended, we named it the best superhero series of the moment that in several aspects had surpassed what had been achieved by the MCU and the DCEU.

Where they started from a common reflection, where, under this logic of comparing Western productions against Japanese ones, Goku will always end up confronting Superman.
All under the logic of the parallels that their origin stories have that are undeniably related to each other, quite possibly with the DC Comics hero as a source of inspiration for Akira Toriyama’s manga.
But in itself, as the publication of the site marks, Goku would actually have a much closer connection in his origin story with Omni-Man from Invincible than with Superman.
Since both belong to an extraterrestrial race with a long dynasty and tradition as warriors and conquerors of entire civilizations.
Both also came to Earth with the mission of annihilating the planet and leaving the ground free to take control of the world by the civilization that sent them.
But both of them did not do it in the end, and even took root to have their children and live, as far as possible, the life of the earthlings.
This is how Goku and Omni-Man end up being almost soulmates.
