In RPGs, I usually go for the Archer or Assassin class because of the versatility they usually offer at close and long range, as well as having good dexterity and being agile. However I almost never use daggers preferring swords. But to think this in Elden Ring would be a mistake, as there is a highly lethal dagger.
We are not referring, in any case, to the higher critical percentage that almost all daggers have by default (Mercy reaches 140, beware!), but rather to two special qualities of the so-called black knife. Especially his ability.
His Death Blade is extremely deadly.
First of all you must know where this dagger is. To do this you must reach the Altus plateau region. Specifically, near the Leyndell wall in its westernmost part. There, in a section of the mountain on the side, just where there is a “sparkling” part with winged surprise, you will see in the background the Tomb of the hallowed heropreviously guarded by the chief Assassin of the Black Knives.
And as you may have deduced, to enter that tomb you will have to kill it. Now, to get the dagger you will not have to go into that tomb, but simply kill said assassin. And by this point in the movie you’ll have come across more than one assassin of these characteristics, so be very careful with her extreme speed and aggressiveness with her attacks. But don’t worry, it’s a minor boss and you’re in a very open area that gives you a lot of room for manoeuvre.
Already with the Black Knife in your possession, you will see that contrary to what it might seem from its name, it is not a dark dagger, but a holy dagger, applying both physical and holy damage with very similar values. So it’s perfect against skeletons so that they don’t come back to life, for example. One of the hidden tricks of the Soulsborne and that applies equally here with holy-type weapons.
Logically, being a holy-type weapon, it scales with faith. And because of this, its only drawback is that to get the most out of its ability you will have to raise your faith attribute, starting from the minimum 18 in Fe required to be able to hold it. Because you’ll more than likely cover his other two requirements to start with: 8 Strength and 12 Dexterity. Of weight it is obviously light: only 2.
With the fully upgraded weapon, it reaches 161 physical damage, while 159 sacred damage, scaling to higher E in Strength, B in Dexterity and C in Faith. But if it is so special it is because of its unique ability, death blade, being one of the most powerful in the entire game. And as you can see from her description, she “unleashes the power of the Death Rune to fire a projectile in the form of a sword.”
Suddenly and with a bang, Instantly reduces enemy’s max HP while he wears out his life for a short time. The ones in Mohgwyn’s farming area are killed in one hit, for example, if you have your character at good Dexterity or Faith levels. And the movement of the skill is quite surprising, jumping and staying on the air to perform a spin so that it casts that enchantment from its blade consuming 25 pcs. But beware, also with a fairly high range, similar to that of almost any spell.
It is, without a doubt, a weapon that we strongly recommend you to optionally equip to surprise the enemy at the beginning and make things much easier for you later. That daggers are always associated with attacks at a very short distance, but very fast, and with this ability that maximum changes completely. In this sense, the Sleep state is also often underestimated, when it is one of the most lethal in Elden Ring. The best advice is to always test every weapon you get, including its unique ability.
