We live in a time where the brands of our childhood change names and transform their most famous mascots (remember Aunt Jemima?) to suit the tastes of new consumers. Now it was her turn to Oscar Mayerwhich for the first time in almost 100 years will change the name of its famous sausage cart.
According to the Kraft Heinz Company, the mother company of the sausage brand, said in a statement, the car will leave the suggestive name wienermobile for now be called Frankmobile.
The company announced the name change Wednesday to celebrate the “100% Beef Franks” (100% meat frankfurters) of the brand while the company presents a new recipe for its sausages.
A rebranding for Oscar Mayer in almost a century
The Wienermobile is a popular 26-foot-long, 6-ton hotdog-shaped car that tours the United States year-round. It first hit the road in 1936 and is a fundamental part of American pop culture.
The new Frankmobile will hit the road this summer and bring the legends “The All Beef Frank Frankmobile” (The real meat frank sausage from the Frankmobile) and, for some reason, the request “Please no licking” painted all over the vehicle.
According to usa todaythe drivers of the sausage vehicle will also change their name from hotdoggers to Frankfurters.
Do you think the name change will work on such an old brand?
