Thus, while nostalgic fans of McDonald’s they want the promotion to be extended, those who prepare the meals pray that it is over.
On October 3, the fast food chain began selling its new Happy little box for adults special edition. The packaging has a retro design and includes a collectible toy inspired by its classic characters, which has caused a sensation among consumers. Those who are not very happy with the box are the employees of McDonald’s, to the extent that they have begged on social networks to stop asking for it.
The adult version of its famous children’s menu is a collaboration with the urban clothing brand Cactus Plant Flea Market. Includes a Big Mac or 10 pieces of nuggets, French fries, a drink and the collectible toy. The promotion will be available until October 30, but there will only be collectible dolls while supplies last, that is, for a very limited time.
“Everyone remembers their first Happy Meal as a child…and the feeling of not being able to sit still while digging to see what was inside. Now, we’re reinventing that experience in a whole new way, this time for adults,” the global franchise said in a statement.
Nostalgia marketing worked. Now, McDonald’s branches are overwhelmed with orders due to the high demand for the product. However, the company’s staff does not share the enthusiasm. “I can see the stress among my co-workers,” an employee told the Kotaku portal.
Large number of orders overwhelms McDonald’s workers
To let off steam, many multinational employees are recounting their experiences on social networks.
“They are going crazy with Happy Meals for adults,” wrote an employee about a video of TikTok showing the number of orders you were preparing.

“Please, don’t order those McDonald’s Happy Meals for adults, I beg you,” said another chain worker on the same social network.
“The new Happy Meals for adults are killing me,” says an anonymous post on Reddit. “The most difficult aspect of this promotion for the team is the sheer volume of these meals that we are selling”, declared another employee on the same platform.
“We ran out of boxes on the first day, we ran out of toys on the second, and on the third day we had to say the truck doesn’t arrive until tomorrow. It hasn’t been fun,” said someone else on the McDonald’s employee subreddit.
“Most of the stores I’ve seen have been sold without special boxes, Big Mac buns or toys. In some places it is more than one of these”, added another member of the company.
Another thing that’s making them hate the limited-edition Happy Meal is that the boxes, it seems, aren’t designed to stack. In other words, they take up a lot of space, generate chaos and hinder the preparation of orders.
