The audiovisual company has joined forces with Xbox to try to bring the quality of cinema to video games in terms of HDR. Halo Infinite will be one of the first native games to enjoy this technology.
It just became official. Dolby Vision comes to the new Microsoft consoles to bring the best HDR standard of the moment to the S Series and X Series.
For those of you who do not know what we are talking about, it will surely be clearer if we tell you that the HDR that you have had on Netflix for several years, has reached the console.
This technology arrives today September 28 to the two new Microsoft machines, And the intention is that more than 100 games take advantage of this more cinematic and realistic HDR, as claimed by its creators.
This hundred of Dolby HDR compatible games will not all be day one, as some will receive a patch in the coming days and, games like Halo Infinite will come standard with this compatibility at launch.
Dolby ensures that games with Auto HDR will also be compatible with Dolby Vision, so a large number of old games (number in thousands of titles) will be updated to the new image standard.
Of course, to ensure that gamers can enjoy Dolby Vision, users will need two things: a Dolby Vision compatible TV and activate your TV’s next-generation gaming settingssuch as Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM) or Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).
As they explain from the press release, many 2020 and 2021 TVs are supported, while only a few older models that support Dolby Vision have updated the functions that allow you to play the console with Dolby Vision.
