David Bejarano is a doctor of Argentine origin who has viralized a video on social networks where he explains the treatment of hand reconstruction using digital animation where a patient has lost fingers and generated hand injuries.
According to what was commented by the specialist, it is the traumatic loss of some fingers of the right hand. In the animation you can see that half a thumb, the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger are missing.
To start the reconstruction process with the one that remains of the hand, the doctor explains that it should start with cleaning the area and removing the dead tissue that can be found in the lesion.
After cleaning the area, the wound is closed with the available tissue, the doctor comments that for obvious reasons a considerable part of the tissue is missing from the hand, which will be administered from another part of the body, such as the legs or thigh.
The health professional explained to the audience the complete procedure for the skin graft for the missing part in the hand, as well as the function of the dermatome, an instrument for cutting skin. The doctor continued commenting that healthy skin was removed from the leg to later perform the skin graft on the damaged hand.
With the healthy skin graft to end the reconstruction process of the digital animation of the right hand, the doctor considered the video ended. It should be noted that the video has more than 1.2 million views on TikTok.

Why is the Skin Graft procedure performed?
According to information from Medline Plus, skin grafts may be recommended for:
- Areas where there has been infection that caused a large amount of skin loss
- Burns
- Cosmetic reasons or reconstructive surgeries where there has been skin damage or loss
- Surgery for skin cancer
- Surgeries that need skin grafts to heal
- Venous ulcers, bed sores, or diabetic ulcers that do not heal
- very large wounds
- A wound that the surgeon has not been able to close properly
Full thickness grafts are done when a lot of tissue is lost. This can happen with open fractures of the lower leg or after severe infections.
