“The Teletubbies” were without a doubt one of the most popular children’s series of the late 90s and early 2000s, either because of their success or all the controversy that accompanied them, the British production ended up earning an important place in popular culture and many They now wonder who was behind the costumes and what has become of their lives.
With a total of four seasons and a recent reboot, the series went around the world and the members of the original cast have had very different destinies, today we tell you what happened to the four actors who gave life to Tinky Winky, Po , Laa-Laa, and Dipsy.
Simon Shelton – Tinky Winky
The actor already had a long career before participating in the children’s series, in addition to being a professional ballet dancer and enjoying a certain reputation in the British acting environment. Unfortunately, Simon’s body was found in 2018, after collapsing in an alcoholic coma and dying of hypothermia, he was 52 years old.

John Simmit – Dipsy
One of the most prominent members of the show, Simmit has become an established TV actor and stand-up comedian, DJing and touring throughout Britain. He has also become a well-known voice actor, despite having an Instagram profile, the actor keeps his private life almost secret.
Nikky Smedley – (Laa-Laa)
Nikky made a name for herself in Hollywood before appearing on “The Teletubbies”, with her debut in 1985 in the film “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” and even appearances in such big movies as “Con Air”. Between her career in film, her work as a choreographer and even publishing children’s books and an autobiography, she amasses a fortune of around £1.5 million.
Pui Fan Lee (Po)
Po ended up being the breakout role for the actress, who has since devoted herself to children’s entertainment and became the force behind the BBC’s CBeebies subdivision, a channel dedicated to children and their education. On the other hand, she continues to act in small roles, most recently in the Apple + series “Slow Horses”.
