The movie premiered today Chip’n Dale: Rescue Rangers on Disney +, a film full of references to the animation and entertainment industry that is surprising for its large number of cameos and easter eggs. One of these easter eggs is a tribute to Super Smash Bros. featuring Disney characters, and fans wish it was real.
In the Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers movie, you can see a promo for a game called Disney Afternoon Fight Fest, with a design that pays tribute to the cover of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. In the poster in question, we see Cihp taking Link’s place on the cover, while Dale mimics Mario’s pose; the rest of the characters have a similar layout to SSBU, not to mention that the blue and white background is also very similar.

It’s clear that the Disney Afternoon Fight Fest poster is a tribute to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and some fans from both companies are already telling Disney that it shouldn’t have shown that easter egg if it wasn’t planning on making it a reality. With the large number of licenses that Disney has, a brawler of this quality style would be a dream for its fans.
Last year saw the release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl with the WB Multiversus coming soon, so it’s clear there’s an interest in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate-style platformer brawlers. Also, Smash has already finished releasing all its DLC, so it’s a good time for other companies to propose something for the genre.

The Super Smash Bros. tribute isn’t the only video game easter egg we see in Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, as we also see a cameo from Ugly Sonic, the discarded design for the Paramount movies. In an interview, the director of the film said that Chip ‘n Dale is a celebration of animation, so it was necessary to include references beyond Disney.
