Can you imagine going to the opera, and incidentally, dining in a dream place? Now it is possible. The Royal Theater of Madrid opens a gastronomic space in the hands of Life Gourmet Catering in collaboration with the chef Ramon Freixa (awarded two Michelin stars at his Ramón Freixa Madrid restaurant). It is called Papagena, and the interior design has been carried out by Luis Garcia Friar.
The restaurant, with a sophisticated air and its own personality, is located on the sixth floor of the Teatro Real, and its name is inspired by the counterpart of the character ‘Papageno’ from the opera ‘Mozart’s Magic Flute’.
The restaurant’s menu, designed by Ramón Freixa, will change every two months. And if it stands out for something, in addition to using top quality ingredients, it is for its staging (something important, considering that we are in the temple of Madrid’s opera).
Between the letter proposalswe found proposals to share such as chicken curry dumplings with hoisin ratatouille, suckling pig confit and mole poblano quesadilla, Caprese burrata injected with basil and tomato tartare, Iberian saam with “live” lettuce, bacon and octopus a la llama , the classic truffled bikini, or a strawberry gazpacho with its mimetic ice cream.
Among the main dishes, there are proposals such as the Robuchon prawns and citrus mayonnaise, the three-cannelloni roasted cannelloni with boletus, foie and truffle sauce, Galician beef tartar rested with spicy touches, or the confit cod loin au gratin with a mousseline of Garlic.
When and where
The Papagena restaurant is located on the sixth floor of the Teatro Real, and has initial opening hours from Thursday to Sunday – and on opera days – from 7 pm to midnight, which will be extended from September 15.
