Director Ángel Manuel Soto spoke in depth about the main post-credits scene of Blue Beetle and how this fits with the hero’s plans for the future on screen.
This happened in an interview that Soto gave to Entertainment Weekly. There, it became evident that the director is aware of the path the franchise would follow if his return was confirmed. During the talk, he talked about what would happen if the idea that was proposed after the first interruption of the film’s credits was continued.
WARNING: They are coming SPOILERS of Blue Beetle
The scene in question reveals that Ted, father of Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), is alive and has tried to communicate with his daughter on several occasions through the connection he has with one of the high-tech suits that are in his lair. It turns out that Ted is none other than the second individual to ever take on the identity of the Blue Beetle, and was thought to have died. We will have to wait to see what will happen to him.
For now, the director said the following about it:
“We had it written [en el guion]. “We knew that was what we wanted our story to be.”

In the comics, Kord’s Blue Beetle usually forms a team with Booster Gold, a character that James Gunn wants to include in his renewed universe. Ángel Manuel Soto was aware of this, so he thought it would be appropriate to give a little wink:
“All [en la producción] “We love Ted Kord and Booster Gold, and knowing that James Gunn also has plans for Booster Gold, it seemed like the right thing to do to continue,” he said. “Ted Kord is still alive, he is somewhere in the universe, and what the future holds for our hero is open to interpretation. So either Booster Gold or Ted Kord or both [juntos]the possibility exists and it is something that we want to be entertaining.”
Blue Beetle is now available on HBO Max. Will it ensure the development of a sequel and, in the process, survive the changes made by James Gunn and Peter Safran? That will only be known with the passage of time.

José Roberto Landaverde I am fascinated by writing, listening, reading and commenting on everything related to cinema. I love music and I am a fan of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Paramore. My favorite movies are Rocky and Back to the Future and obviously one day I will climb the “Philly Steps” and drive a DeLorean. Faithful believer that cinema is the best teleporting machine, and also that on the big screen we can all see ourselves represented.
