After a slight delay, the Steam Deck it is finally reaching the hands of consumers and specialized media. Even before its release, Valve allowed several YouTubers and content creators have a couple of hands-on sessions with the Steam Deck, but now the first official reviews are available.
The always reliable team of Digital Foundry has published his review of Steam Deck, where they explain in detail each of the sections of this portable device. This analysis takes into account things like the power of the device, but also its comfort and accessibility, among other things.
Richard Leadbetter was responsible for working on this review, and according to his comments, the Steam Deck sometimes it feels like a “mini PS4 with access to your entire library of Steam“. Yes, it seems that this new device really is powerful and despite its relatively low resolution, many games actually stand out more on its small screen. Horizon: Zero Dawn is an example of them.
As for the battery, Leadbetter mentions that its duration obviously depends on the type of game you are running, but generally speaking, it offers much better results than expected with up to four hours of play in a single session. And apparently, the device does not get so hot in the hands thanks to its efficient ventilation system.
Comfort must also be very important for the Steam Deck on the subject of portability, and the good news here is that the average user should have no problem holding this device in their hands for long hours of gaming. The console feels made of quality materials, and despite all its buttons, none of them feel uncomfortable to the touch or difficult to press.
Usually, DigitalFoundry explain what Valve did a good job with it Steam Deck, both in its power and performance and in its comfort. The bad news is that this device still does not have a launch date in our territory, and I do not think it will reach us soon.
Publisher’s note: From his previews, the Steam Deck received a lot of praise from those who tried it. I think there was some concern about the performance issue, but apparently nothing to worry about. It will certainly be interesting to know what position this device occupies within the market.
