A surprise update has recently arrived for Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox Series X and Ps5, which offers incredible improvements for the new generation of consoles: a high resolution that looks great on 4K screens, as well as targeting 60fps. In Digital Foundry’s opinion, the revised quality mode is the one gamers should try, and the differences in how the PS5 and Xbox Series X deliver it are intriguing.
The first thing that Digital Foundry highlights is that even though Shadow of the Tomb Raider now has an official patch tag optimized for Xbox Series X | S, the game continues to work through backward compatibility (just like on PS5). And since the game had previously been updated using FPS Boost, it appears that the new update changes very little.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox Series X and Ps5
Comparing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox Series X and Ps5 in resolution mode offers performance more stable on PS5 but better resolution on Xbox Series X, managing to be this latest version in a state closer to a true 4K. Of course, Digital Foundry also mentions the Xbox Series S. They say this version reaches 60fps without any problem, although not all is good news.
Freak out with this official Elder Scrolls command
While the Xbox Series S manages to deliver a constant 60fps, the issue of this version is that it works at a resolution of 900p. A 1080p60 option would have been a nice bonus. The final conclusion from Digital Foundry is that Shadow of the Tomb Raider patch 2.01 basically makes the FPS Boost update official.
