Surely you have come across texts and articles that talk about technological careers as the ‘greatest sources of income’ of today and the future. If not, just look at the job openings for these positions, where salaries are well above average.
Whether your bachelor’s degree wasn’t what you expected, you’re looking for more income opportunities, or you’re simply interested in learning about a branch of technology, this information may be for you.

In accordance with Ramiro SanchezDirector of Marketing for Google in Latin America, the region has been facing —for several years— an acute shortage of skills, which is why companies cannot find candidates with the profiles they need.
In this sense, the courses are segmented into areas such as data analysis, UX design, information technology (IT) and project management.. This year, the tech giant will offer 120,000 scholarships distributed between Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Our country gets 90,000.
The scholarships are 100%, so the course selected according to the interested party will be completely free. It should be noted that no age, experience or specific education is required to register. However, it is vulnerable groups and women who have preference to acquire support.
There are people who, due to economic or social needs, seek to have a change in their lives and access these courses, so there is no age range or prerequisite to take the course,” says Ramiro Sánchez.
The scholarships distributed in the different countries of the region will be valid until the end of 2023 and will be awarded through strategic alliances with civil society organizations, universities and the governments of each country.
The courses, for their part, will be available on the platform Coursera and they will last approximately six months if 10 hours a week are dedicated to them. However, since it is online, each student will be able to progress at their own pace.
They are compatible training for people with employment, alternative studies or family. We have an estimated time to complete the course of six months, but this can vary depending on the organization of each student”, explains the director of Marketing at Google.
If you are not awarded a scholarship, you can take the course with an incentive of 300 pesos per month —which is the cost of operating the platform— Upon completion, Google will validate the knowledge of each registered through a diploma.
From 2017 to date, the Career Certificates have managed to train 21,500 people in Latin America who do not have easy access to digital training, as well as those who already have previous professional experience and wish to catch up with the needs of the market.
Our mission, at Google, is to organize global information, make it universal and accessible to all. As part of this mission, we believe that we have a responsibility: To make it possible for as many people as possible to use said material”, concludes Sánchez.
