Neglect generates complications during and after pregnancy if optimal care is not taken.
Deviations in vertebrae can be caused by a bad city during pregnancy. Failure to adequately control pregnancy can lead to complications such as vertebral subluxation, a condition that deviates the spinal vertebrae and that can complicate delivery and affect the baby’s health, experts warned today.
“Pregnancy is one of the most significant stages for women, but neglect generates complications during and after pregnancy, but optimal care is taken,” explained the pediatric and maternal chiropractic specialist at the Innate Chiropractic Center in Mexico.
In addition to gestational diabetes and preeclampsia (high blood pressure), the specialist pointed out that women can present vertebral subluxation, which irritates the uterine nerve and generates tension in the ligaments, causing rigid muscles.
“This also affects the development of the baby, as this may have very little space in the womb, which in the long run generates a slow, laborious and difficult delivery, or the newborn may have severe problems in the cranial bones, infections of ears and ebb, “he said.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), each year about 830 women die worldwide from complications in pregnancy and childbirth.
In Mexico, according to the agency, there are more deaths in rural areas, where the impoverished state of Chiapas has at least 56 deaths a week, followed by the State of Mexico with 43 deaths a week and Veracruz with 26 deaths, while Mexico City maintains a figure of 18 deaths a week.
One of the factors that influence complications are cesarean sections, since according to Dr. Aram Gómez Mendoza, among other things, “it can generate a blockage in the lumbar nerves, which causes permanent problems in the back,” he said.
Despite the fact that it is said that a cesarean section should be chosen only when there is a risk for the mother or baby, the specialists pointed out that in private hospitals in Mexico, this practice is the most usual since 67 out of 100 deliveries are by cesarean section.
“Natural childbirth has been greatly reduced in recent years, however, many women are unaware that this option is less traumatic, both for them and for their babies, as it is a physiological process,” said Dr. Gómez.
For his part, Gómez Mendoza assured that chiropractic ligament adjustments help reduce muscle pain and the effects of pelvic sacral subluxation generated during and after pregnancy.
“That helps to enhance the nervous system, making it more resistant at that stage,” he said.
He said that in order to maintain proper care during pregnancy, it is necessary to practice some activities such as gestational yoga, lifting pilates, swimming and continuous walks for 10 to 15 minutes.
“This helps to strengthen the nervous system, likewise it is important to go to the specialist for continuous review, and also when there are discomforts or suspicious changes, in order to carry a healthy pregnancy and thus prevent or treat any problem in a timely manner”, Gómez Mendoza finished.
