Several months ago, Nintendo finally revealed the rumored “Switch Pro“, Although in reality, this new model only includes a screen OLED bigger, improved speakers, a new dock, as well as a different rear mount than the base model. Well, it seems that the true “pro” model of this console would continue to be in development and could be launched as soon as the following year.
According to a report by Bloomberg, there are at least 11 developer studios around the world, both large and small, that have a devkit, or developer kit, of the Nintendo Switch, which does reach resolutions of up to 4K. Among these studies we have Zynga. Inc, a team that had never developed a video game before. According to the previously mentioned portal, it was the employees of these different studies themselves who admitted this information, although for privacy reasons, they preferred to remain anonymous.
According to the sources of Bloomberg, who are familiar with the plans of Nintendo, it would not be until the end of 2022 when this new model 4K go to market. The Big N responded to a list of questions from Bloomberg saying that this report “was not entirely correct,” but they refused to specify exactly which parts of the information they were referring to.
When Nintendo had shown its new console (OLED) in July of this year, the company had already begun to distribute these kits in 4K to different third-party developers and asked them to design software that supports this resolution. The devkit original of Nintendo switch it only reaches resolutions of 1080p when connected to an external monitor, while the new one does reach the 4K.
These same developers declined to elaborate on the plans for Nintendo and a new console, but they confirmed that these games that are working for the Switch on 4K they could be released during or after the second half of next year. Bloomberg It only identified 11 companies that have one of these kits, although there are very likely many more studies in possession of one of them.
For now we can only wait until 2022 to find out what plans you have Nintendo for the future, but everything indicates that we will see the real Switch on 4K at some point in the following year.
