Director Denis Villeneuve is about to release DUNE and in a recent interview he wanted to give his opinion on the films of the Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe.
It is very common for the most famous directors to attack the films of Marvel studios, for example Martin Scorsese or David Fincher. Has now been Denis Villeneuve, responsible for jewels such as Prisioneros (2013), Enemy (2013), Sicario (2015), The Arrival (Arrival) (2016), Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and now DUNE (2021).
During an interview, the director of DUNE was asked his opinion on superhero movies, and he said he believed that “There are too many Marvel Studios movies that are nothing more than a cut and paste of others.”
“The problem today … Well, if we are talking about Marvel Studios, the thing is that all these films are made from the same mold. Some filmmakers may add a little color to it, but they are all made in the same factory. It doesn’t take anything away from the movies, but they are formatted. “
Curiously the director Chloé zhao from The Eternals praised the movie of DUNE from Denis Villeneuve, so it would be curious to know if you think that this installment of Marvel Studios, is also a copy of the rest of the stories.
What will DUNE be about?
Denis Villeneuve is adapting the work of Frank Herbert, a science fiction epic in which there is a species called Melange that is fundamental to interstellar travel. The problem is that getting it is complicated, since it is only found on a desert planet Arrakis, commonly known as DUNE, but in that place there are monstrous worms that make it difficult to extract. The galaxy is controlled by an Empire where betrayals and death are frequent. In the midst of all this, the young protagonist Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) must fulfill an ancient prophecy.
