Since James Gunn took the reins of DC, many changes have been outlined on the way and Dave Bautista recently confirmed that they will be quite substantial. The former fighter, now turned into a screen actor, suggests that the studio will exert a massive clean slate where not even he will have a space.
Dave Bautista rose to fame as an actor when he worked under the direction of James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy. Since then the doors in the world of cinema have been opened for him. However, his biggest goal was always to be able to embody a specific character. None other than the brawny Batman villain known as Bane. However, the director of the suicide squad and current DC boss has already flatly denied him the dream.
In the middle of a chat with insiders on the occasion of the premiere of knock at the doorBautista recounted that he had a talk with Gunn regarding Bane’s future. Although the filmmaker could not tell him anything specific, he assured him that he definitely does not have it in his plans.
“I’ve had conversations with James about that. [Bane], but I think that the direction in which it is leaning is to completely reboot that entire universe, “he commented. “He’s starting from scratch and bringing something younger and fresh. And I think it has to be done.”
Bautista also believes that for DC to flourish in the way it deserves, fresh blood needs to be added to the mix. The 54-year-old actor affirms that younger actors would be the best option and even accepts that he should no longer be part of that assignment.
Regarding the character of Bane, apparently Bautista has already given up such a dream. Despite the fact that in previous years he even organized meetings with Warner and DC to consolidate himself as the first volunteer for the role, he now affirms that he is no longer so sure that he wants to become such a villain.
“I don’t want to play a character that I can’t do justice to,” he said. I don’t think at this point in my career I can continue to do Bane justice. I just don’t know if he could handle the physical part, and I don’t think he had the longevity to plan movies in advance. So I don’t know if I would be that guy.”
Dave Bautista has already worked with several of today’s best directors. From the aforementioned James Gunn in the two known installments of the guardianseven Denis Villeneuve in his special epic saga Dune and in the sequel Blade Runner.
Now he will launch the new thriller by M. Night Shyamalan. knock at the door tells the story of a family harassed by a group of characters while spending a weekend in a cabin. The group approaches them to tell them that they are responsible for saving the world and for this they must make a very important decision.
