There are still a couple of months left before we can enjoy ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ on May 25, but little by little we are learning more details about the series in the universe starwars. We recently saw the impressive trailer for him, then we got a warning from Hayden Christensen about Darth Vader and we also learned that his story was changed at the last moment because it was too dark.
Now from The Hollywood Reporter we get two very striking information about the series. The first is the confirmation that ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ will feature another actor playing Luke Skywalker. The young man Grant Feelyseen so far only in one episode of ‘Creepshow’, will be the successor to Mark Hamill on the paper.
Apparently, the great axis of the series was going to be Obi-Wan protecting Luke when he was just a child, something that Jon Favreaucreator of ‘The Mandalorian’, and Dave Philoni they felt that it was going to be too similar to the series starring Pedro Pascal. In fact, it was they who insisted deborah chowdirector of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, to pursue a more ambitious approach to the series.
Why was Darth Maul left out?
That was very important when deciding to stop production work on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and for the series to change writers. One of the most important things that changed Joby Harold (‘Army of the Dead’) was that one of the main villains of the series was going to be Darth Maul.
In fact, it seems that Ray Park He was already preparing to return, something that would have already been partially solved, because let’s remember that the character -beware of spoilers- already had a brief appearance in ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’. Perhaps the failure of this film was also decisive for Lucasfilm to prefer to recover Darth Vader? Because initially his return was not planned…
Several sources from The Hollywood Reporter point in that direction, but from said medium they also clarify that someone from lucasfilm contradicts that story by saying that the series was never meant to use Darth Maul.
