The pieces fit and the signing of Craig Breen by M-Sport has helped Hyundai close its driver line-up for 2022. No room for surprise, Dani Sordo will continue one more year at Hyundai after expanding his relationship with the South Korean firm. In this way, the Cantabrian driver will get behind the wheel of the third Hyundai i20 N Rally1 and will do so again within a partial program in which he will compete in approximately half of the rallies on the calendar. In the remaining tests, Dani Sordo’s complement will be the young Swedish Oliver Solberg.
Dani Sordo will not only drive the third Hyundai i20 N Rally1 in a selected number of rallies according to your own and Hyundai’s interests, but will work with the manufacturer on the rest of the tests for his experience, as his vision can be important in the development of the new South Korean ‘Rally1’ and in the learning of Oliver Solberg himself. In this regard, Dani has assured: «I have said many times that Hyundai Motorsport is like my familyso I’m very happy to continue my career with them in the new hybrid era of the WRC. I just wish for the new season to come as we prepare for new challenges.
Oliver solberg will have its first partial program in the WRC queen class, even if this year it has already competed with the Hyundai i20 WRC Coupé in the Arctic Rally and in the Safari Rally, a list to which it will add the RACC Rally in the near future: «It’s a dream come true to get into Hyundai’s third car in the WRC to participate in selected events with Dani Sordo. I’m only 20, so it’s a big step in my career.. It all happens at a special moment in the WRC, with the arrival of the new hybrid ‘Rally1’. I have known Dani for a long time, he is a great person and someone to learn from».
