Damián Alcazar will be in Blue Beetle and he has nothing but praise for the next DCU movie. The Mexican actor makes his foray into superhero movies. It will be with a project that, in his opinion, the Mexican public will like very much.
In the film, he will play Alberto Reyes, father of Jaime (Xolo Maridueña), the teenager who is destined to become the Blue Beetle. As part of a statement, Alcazar stressed that this film is one that places great emphasis on everything that gives us identity as a country. Here his words:
«[Blue Beetle] is a unique fusion of science fiction and traditional Latino valuesin which [Ángel Manuel Soto] The Caribbean director explores the worlds of DC and the Mexican family in an exciting and surprising way. It is an epic blockbuster that talks about love and Latin American culture, which makes a huge difference within the films of this cut«.
In addition, the actor recalled how the director of the film, Ángel Manuel Soto, asked him to participate in the production. Therefore, he would wait for his schedule. At first he wasn’t sure he wanted to participate. However, it was the script’s focus on Mexican and Latin American traditions.
Talking with The Sun of Mexico, Damián Alcazar advanced that these elements are what will make the audience feel identified with the proposal, since it is rare that something like this is done in a Hollywood mega-production. This is what he said about it:
“The director wanted me specifically, I said no because it was in English and I was doing other things, he waited for me and all of that motivates you, drives you or pushes you to accept being part of this job.”
And I add:
“[La película] it addresses the Mexican family issue in the United States, it is a family of migrants and that is wonderful because you see the solidarity, love and treatment that exists among Mexicans, it is clearly noticeable that there is pride on the part of our countrymen”.
Are you excited to see Damián Alcazar in Blue Beetle? The film will arrive in movie theaters in Mexico on August 17, 2023.

My favorite movies are Rocky and Back to the Future and obviously one day I’ll climb the “Philly Steps” and drive a DeLorean. Faithful believer that cinema is the best teleportation machine, and also that on the big screen we can all see ourselves represented.
