After the drill on September 19, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the Mexican capital.
On September 20 of the current year, an earthquake of 5.4 degrees occurred that was also felt in several areas of Mexico City.
The general director of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), Pedro Zenteno Santaella, informed that so far there is no major damage to the medical units or hospitals of the dependency throughout the country, in addition to the fact that medical care has not stopped.
The official stressed that the clinics in Apatzingán and Uruapan, which are in the state of Michoacán, along with some of the buildings in Colima, suffered some damage that is being assessed by the corresponding authorities.
“We are in the supervision phase so that they give us an opinion on the issue of structure to take action immediately. We are relocating our patients and the medical service has not stopped so far, ”he said.
Pedro Zenteno mentioned the fall of ceilings and the appearance of cracks in walls that were recorded in medical units in Michoacán, commented that the entity’s Civil Protection analyzes the infrastructure. Meanwhile, in Apatzingán, the medical staff provides priority medical attention in access to the clinic, reported that the supply of medicines continues uninterrupted.
The Surveillance Commission team traveled to Colima and commented that the Manzanillo and Minatitlán clinics are operating normally, the state Civil Protection ruling is pending to reactivate activities at the “Miguel Trejo Ochoa” Hospital Clinic, which suffered damage in external consultation.
In addition, the building of the state representative office of Colima suffered considerable damage and it was decided to suspend activities until further notice, in order to safeguard the physical integrity of the staff.
