The Mexican Competitiveness Center (CCMX), the innovative arm of the Mexican Business Council (CMN), kicked off the fourth edition of I believe MXan initiative that takes place from November 8 to 10 to promote the development and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and Mexican entrepreneurs in an environment of innovation.
Entrepreneurs at any stage of development, owners of MSMEs, university students and actors who participate in the creation of support programs for entrepreneurs and MSMEs, will have at their disposal tools, best practices and methodologies to strengthen their business skills through talks with experts on business issues, digitization, financing, value chains, among others.
During the opening of the event, José Antonio Pérez Antón, President of the Center for Competitiveness of Mexico (CCMX), highlighted that “since its creation to date, CREO MX has been strengthened year after year to consolidate a community of more than 15,000 entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs nationwide, and in states such as San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, the State of Mexico and Yucatán”.
Pérez Antón also pointed out that in Mexico, 43% of entrepreneurs started their company because they were looking for personal and professional growth, and currently for 64% of entrepreneurs it is their main source of employment.
For this reason, one way to support SMEs is to integrate them into value chains and large consumer markets, with trade agreements signed by Mexico being an option, and for this reason, the CCMX is carrying out actions so that SMEs take advantage of Chapter 25 of the T-MEC, which gives them the opportunity to export.
For his part, Francisco Cervantes, President of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) indicated that “as a business sector, our responsibility is to help improve the conditions of small businesses for their multiplication and strengthening. All large companies started out as SMEs. Today one of the most important challenges is to help the 4 million SMEs to face the economic situation, since the 4 million SMEs create 72% of formal jobs”.
Also present at the formal ceremony were Leticia Rosales, General Director of Ceimayá; Rocío Abud Mirabent, General Director of Social Responsibility and Coppel Foundation; Salvador Villalobos, Executive President of the Communication Council; Arturo Gochicoa, Director of Sustainable Projects and Corporate Financing of Nacional Financiera Bancomext; and Denis Yris, Director and founder of WORTEV.
