Starting next week, Twitter will focus on removing misleading and considered most harmful information that has to do with Covid-19 vaccines.
“In the context of a global pandemic, misinformation about vaccines represents a significant and growing public health challenge, and we all have a role to play,” wrote Twitter.
Otherwise, it will no longer be able to post new tweets, the microblogging social network may require users to delete messages that claim vaccines are being used to intentionally harm or control populations.
Other unwanted tweets will be messages that Covid-19 is not real, making vaccination unnecessary. Twitter will also be vigilant over alleged harmful consequences of vaccination, which have been widely denied.
Warnings to accompany tweets
From early 2021, Twitter plans to post warnings on tweets conveying unfounded rumors, disputed claims and incomplete or out of context information on vaccines.
Links in the warnings could point to authoritative sources of information on Covid-19.
Earlier this month, Facebook had already announced measures related to disinformation on vaccines against Covid-19.
