The horror and puzzle franchise little nightmares It has been one of the great representatives of the genre on the independent scene, with attractive, ingenious proposals far removed from the traditional formulas of terror. However, the license has been suspended after the closing of the purchase of Tarsier Studios, developers of the first two installments, by Embracer Group in December 2019. Today, thinking about the future of the series, we wonder if could Supermassive Games take over the Little Nightmares saga and we theorize about it with some solid arguments.
As we mentioned and you probably already know, it was the Swedish studio Tarsier that developed both games that today make up the Little Nightmares saga, but even after its sale, the license remains the property of Bandai Namco. In this sense, there is a detail that has been overlooked and that we noticed yesterday when Supermassive Games published an image on their Twitter account with the posters of the games they have created and that they have on display in their offices. Among them is Little Nightmares 2, of which they made the next-gen version which came out a few months after the original from Tarsier Studios.
This is how the first notes of The Quarry are being
Given the reliability of Supermassive in the horror genre (Until Dawn, The Quarry) and the good business relationship that seem to have built next to bandai namco thanks to The Dark Pictures Anthology franchise (which already has three games and will continue to add more for years to come), it would make perfect sense of the world that were responsible for Man of Medan or Little Hope who also took charge of a potential Little Nightmares 3. Even sharing the terror, it would be a very different game from the ones they are used to making, but nothing out of their reach. What do you think? Would you give the development of an upcoming Little Nightmares to Supermassive Games?
