We have been very excited about the presentation of God of War: Ragnarok at the PlayStation Showcase. During the event, information about the title was revealed, but we also got a look at its trailer. Now, however, the news it’s not about the title itself, but who will be responsible and why Cory Barlog has decided to abandon development of the game.
During a live broadcast just after the PlayStation Showcase 2021, it was announced that Eric williams, veteran of the franchise, will be the one who directs this new God of War: Ragnarok. The executive joined Sony Santa Monica in 2004, and has been a combat designer for each of the God of War. However, he has managed to climb several more steps and will be the director of the new title.
Cory BarlogOn the other hand, he has already directed several of the God of War games. The executive directed the 2007 release, as well as the last one from 2018. Now, however, he has confirmed that will not be participating as a director during the development of Ragnarok, and the explanation given to us is quite straightforward. We leave it to you below:
“It has always been a tradition here in Santa Monica to change directors at every game. We have had pretty good success with this. Cory is the only repeat director and, to be honest, he’s damn good at what he does, “said Eric Williams, the new director of God of War.
God of War: Ragnarok will be a direct sequel to God of War of 2018, This has been assured by PlayStation from its blog, where they also revealed new details. The title has a launch window scheduled for sometime in 2022, and will be available both in PS4 as on PS5, so we will have one of the few God of War with a multiplatform launch in history.
