Coppel is the fifth most used e-commerce store in Mexico, capitalizing on 22 percent of the market.
In the first positions are the companies Amazon and Mercado Libre, also being two of the largest in Latin America.
If something positive left the pandemic to Mexico was the possibility of growing in previously unexplored sectors, such as eCommerce. The value of this market is now seen to continue to grow despite the fact that many consumers are beginning to prioritize direct contact with the brand.
Faced with this situation, many brands have adopted and appropriated the approach known as omnichannel, which allows them to capitalize on the efforts made either on sites Web and in the digital market, such as in stores retail. However, it is impossible to recognize the giant steps that this sector has taken and the brands that have become a standard of this with the aim of recognizing what their place will be in the coming years.
In addition to this, a study of the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO) pointed out that the digital market in Mexico rose a 27 percent between 2020 and 2021resulting in an increasingly noticeable maturity among consumers and this trend.
Likewise, through a study by Statista Global Customer Survey, we know the 10 most used online stores in Mexico:
As shown in the graph, courtesy of the portal, we know that Coppel’s online store is ranked number five, only behind giants such as Amazon, Mercado Libre, Walmart and Liverpool. We can attribute this to digital education that increased after the consolidation of the pandemic. On the other hand, AliExpress, Sam’s Club, Home Depot and Wish are also in privileged places within digital commerce in Mexico.
In fact, a study conducted by the same siteshared that the growth of eCommerce in Mexico it reached levels never seen before, as it went from being worth close to US$29.40 million in 2020 to US$38.8 billion in 2021. Currently, according to their figures, its value is around 45 thousand 700 million dollars.
Coppel workers “put on their shirts” and spark discussion on networks
Since Coppel is currently one of the most important sales brands in Mexico, it is understandable that it has a committed workforce. In fact, the brand has gained a great reputation for its sales model, where the accessibility of its payments allows consumers to access items that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
However, when that commitment and fidelity of the talent becomes too much, it becomes strange for external agents. And it is that through a video shared through TikTok, it was possible to observe the “ritual” of the workers prior to a working day. The result frightened locals and strangers, who were surprised.
The video shows workers singing and dancing around who we assume may be the local manager, encouraging the workers to have a good day. Although the concept sounds quite well written, when put into practice it does not always represent the best result.
