More than 7,300 entrepreneurs, investors, businessmen, consultants, mentors, students and people looking for inspiration or a business opportunity met for three days at the Ibero-American Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair (FIIE).
The event organized by the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) took place at Expo Santa Fe in Mexico City on September 12-14. In its three days of work, FIIE 2023 offered a wide range of activities that included thematic conferences, urban art challenges, a gamer tournament with 4,000 participants organized by Casa Battler and a gourmet market, designed to highlight gastronomic endeavors.
This Thursday, during the closing of the FIIE 2023, José Medina Mora Icaza, national president of Coparmex, indicated that 123 conferences and workshops were held in which topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, logistics, cloud computing, among others, were held. , so he was satisfied with the results.
He added that 38 buses transported young people from the outskirts of the city, who had the opportunity to be with entrepreneurs who already operate their businesses and who even marketed their products on the exhibition floor.
In addition, several business meetings were held, where small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) connected with large companies to become part of their supply chain.
FIIE 2023 bets on innovation to promote MSMEs
In its first edition, the FIIE opted for innovation to support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which according to Inegi data, represent 99% of the country’s economic units and 80% of the employment.
He highlighted the training of MSMEs to face the opportunities that nearshoring represents and how to ensure that through innovation this segment achieves greater access to sales to close the gap of inequalities that exist between micro and large companies.
Two fairs under one roof
FIIE 2023 was the result of the merger of two Coparmex events: the Innovation & Business Forum and the Entrepreneurship and Business Expo and the vision of the business sector to advance towards a Mexico with Inclusive Development.
The fundamental objective of the FIIE was clear: to become a promoter of entrepreneurship and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to transform them into the engine of the social and economic change that our country requires. In a context where 50% of businesses close before turning two years old, this fair provided a platform to promote the creativity, talent and vision of entrepreneurs.
During the closing of the meeting, of which Entrepreneur.com was a media partner, José Medina Mora was accompanied by Fernando Sánchez Argomedo, president of the National Commission for Business Innovation and Ángel García Lascuráin Valero, president of the Business and Financing Commission, who were in charge of organizing this event.
Medina Mora highlighted the free entry model of the fair and sponsored by product and service companies, who shared their knowledge with attendees through conferences and simultaneous workshops.
After reiterating that this first edition of the FIIE was very successful, the business leader hoped that next year a new version will be held, with the challenge of making it better, that it can reach more young people, more MSMEs, more entrepreneurs, while also involving more companies to participate in their exhibitions, conferences and business meetings.
