Continental has also been present at the IAA 2021 Munich Motor Show, unveiling its new technologies and interesting novelties such as the AMBIENC3 concept. A proposal that is based on the old Volkswagen T2 and that has shown the possibilities of the most superb rest.
When driving stress is the most common trend in current times, and with level 4 autonomous driving as medicine, Continental has presented an interesting novelty that shows a proposal for a break from driving, a haven of peace and tranquility at the highest level offering a high level of technology on board the exclusive Volkswagen T2.
The Volkswagen van, sold in Germany between 1967 and 1979, and until last year 2013 in Brazil, has been completely reconverted into a space designed solely to completely free the mind. A spa without water, and on wheels, that has everything you need in an atmosphere that invites maximum relaxation, and that has been presented at the IAA 2021 Munich Motor Show.
The Continental AMBIENC3 concept invites you to rest and not drive
Although it has a front and a minimalist dashboard, the back is another song, it is covered with materials natural and recycled, resistant to dirt and with a silky finish, plus very soft colors on the sides and on the roof. In this part there is also a special decorative motif on the inside, and on the outside it has a coating of solar cells to power the instrument panel and ambient lighting that adapts, like sound, to the mood.
A comfortable armchair and a sofa are the only items offered for maximum rest, in addition to a coffee maker. There are no buttons or physical controls anywhere, taking Continental’s so-called “Shy” technology to the highest level, so that everything is in a dormant state.
In fact, the sound system is so sophisticated that it is present but has no speakers. At least not in sight, but it does have DAB digital radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and an advanced intelligent navigation system, as well as an environment monitoring system with 360º cameras. The AMBIENC3 is the foretaste of what the very long-term future awaits, when level 4 autonomous driving makes its debut and allows commutes and journeys to be made safely and with a high degree of comfort.
