It seems that what is seen on television is not as easy as it seems. After the success and the emotion of the public before the squid gameNetflix decided to turn the intense tests of the series into a reality with real life contestants. Saying reality It is already in recordings, but the complications began from day one.
According to the British newspaper the sun (via Variety), various participants from Squid Game: The Challenge they couldn’t stand the weather conditions during the game “red light, green light”. The United Kingdom, where the recordings are currently taking place, is facing a cold wave that is also hitting all of Europe, for which temperatures of up to three degrees Celsius have been recorded below zero.
Faced with this situation, the contestants of the reality based on the squid game they began to feel bad. The production had no choice but to call doctors to treat the contestants. According to a witness to what happened:
“Even if they had hypothermia, people were willing to stay as long as possible because a lot of money was at stake. Too many were determined not to move, so they stayed there for a long time. There were people who came thinking they were going to be millionaires, but they left crying. It was like a war zone. The doctors took people out, but you couldn’t say anything. If you spoke, you were out”.
It is worth mentioning that the production of the reality show sought to bring together 456 participants. For each of them, as happened in the Netflix success, ten thousand dollars were added to the final prize. Would you do the same to get that jackpot of $4.56 million dollars?
“Some couldn’t even move their feet because of the cold. Someone yelled ‘medical’ and immediately the team rushed over. We ended up standing for 30 minutes between takes. Some dragged themselves to the end. One, at least, was transferred on a stretcher”, commented the witness.
Obviously, many criticized the conditions in which the streaming platform had the participants of its reality. Although everyone signed to participate knowing what could happen, users of social networks did not agree that these extremes were reached. Studio Lambert and The Garden, producers of the series, issued a joint statement with Netflix. Here his words (via Deadline).
“Although it was very cold on the set – and the participants were prepared for it – any comments about serious injuries are false. We care deeply about the health and safety of our cast and production crew, and we invest in all necessary safety measures.”
So far, no other person close to the production has declared about it. Will it be rumors or are the participants really threatened not to speak?
